TREASURER
The Town Treasurer is responsible for the accounting, reporting, and management of the Town’s financial activities. Daily activities include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, account analysis, budgeting, and accounting control. The Treasurer is appointed by the Town Board.
Property and Personal Property Taxes
The Town Treasurer is responsible for collection of tax payments. Tax Bills are mailed out mid-December to property owners following the approval of the Town budget. The first payment or payment in full is due to the Town of LaFayette by January 31 of each year. Any remaining balance is paid to the Walworth County Treasurer by July 31 of each year. CLERK
Town Board
The Town Clerk is the Clerk of the Town Board and Plan Commission Secretary and keeps a permanent record of their proceedings. The Clerk is appointed by the Town Board.
Elections
The Town Clerk is responsible for administration of all local, state, and federal elections, voter registration, and maintaining voter registrations records through the Statewide Voter Registration program. For more information on elections, click HERE.
Licenses
The Town Clerk issues all licenses and permits pertaining to alcohol, cigarette, special events, fireworks, and dog licenses.
To obtain information on holding a retail Liquor and/or Fermented Malt Beverage license in the Town, please contact the Town Clerk.
For Operator (“bartender”) Licenses, now called Seller/Server, use this form: LaFayette Operator License Application. Include a copy of your current License from another Wisconsin municipality or your Responsible Beverage Server Certificate. (For a list of approved courses, go to the Wisconsin Dept. of Revenue website.) The application fee is due along with your application, and you must include a copy of your Wisconsin driver’s license or ID card. Mail the information in, or make an appointment to drop it off at the Town Office.
